Hugo – sweet and simple amigurumi

A simple amigurumi pattern which I created for my Amigurumi Workshop, I’m happy for you to make and even sell little Hugo’s but please link the pattern back to my blog.

Materials

Cotton yarn ( I’ve use DK and 4ply both work well) – colours A & B, 3 mm hook, toy stuffing, small amount of black yarn, sewing needle

Abbreviations

dc  – double crochet

st  – stitch

sl st – slip stitch

dc2tog – double crochet two together (decrease)

 Legs

Starting with Yarn A

Round 1 – make a magic circle and work 6 dc into the ring (6) ( alternatively you can start with 2 chain and work 6 dc into the second chain from the hook)

Round 2 – 2dc in next st – repeat 6 times (12)

Round 3 – 1dc, 2dc in next stitch – repeat 6 times (18)

Rounds 4 – 12 – 1 dc in each st (18)

Fasten of first leg, repeat for 2nd leg but don’t fasten off.

Main Body

Join legs together with a sl st.

Round 13 -15 dc into each st (36) change to yarn B

Round 16 -28 – dc into each st (36)

Round 29 – 4 dc, 1dc2tog – repeat 6times (30) start to stuff the legs, and add more as you go along.

Round 30 – 3 dc, 1dc2tog – repeat 6 times (24)

Round 31 – 2 dc, 1dc2tog – repeat 6 times (18)

Round 32 – 1 dc, 1dc2tog – repeat 6 times (12)

Round 33 – 1dc2tog – repeat 6 times (6)

Fasten off and sew opening together.

Ears

Starting with Yarn B

Round 1 – make a magic circle and work 6 dc into the ring (6)

Round 2 – 2dc in next st – repeat 6 times (12)

Round 3 – 1dc, 2dc in next stitch – repeat 6 times (18)

Round 4  -2dc, 2dc in next stitch – repeat 6 times (24) finish with a sl st fasten off leaving a tail long enough to attach to the body – Make 2.

Attach to Hugo’s head and embroider his little face and he is good to go.
